The Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy serves as a model for team oriented community learning and teaching in a high tech studio-like environment. Exposed building systems, glass mechanical chases and floating suspended ceilings adorn the hi-tech labs, classrooms and corridors in this state-of-the-art facility. Plinths of color create object like entrances into labs, classrooms and major spaces. Transparent walls divide lab spaces to promote student interaction and team teaching. Museum or café like study areas are open to the corridor to serve as overflow teaching and planning spaces. The building has become an architectural onomatopoeia: it is what it teaches, science and technology.
