Slippery Rock University’s renovation and adaptation of Patterson Hall encompassed the conversion of the existing dorm facility into a meeting, lab and instructional space for the Exercise Science Program of the University.

As an adaptive reuse, the University was able to recover an existing facility, slated for removal, and retrofit the components into a viable learning center for a fraction of new construction costs.

The “new” facility houses all of the testing labs for the Exercise Program, lecture space and facility offices. Also provided is full ADA accessibility to all floors and services, enhanced mechanical and electrical systems, and the replacement of all exterior windows and roofing systems
