Scholarship Information
The Foreman Foundation Scholarship Fund in Memory of John Bruno, Jr. will be a four-year scholarship in the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per student per year.
One award will be made each year, and the student will receive the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per year for four years as long as the Scholarship Committee certifies that the maintenance requirements as set forth in the foregoing guidelines have been met.
The Scholarship Committee will monitor the recipient's progress during college and will report annually to the Foreman Foundation's Board of Directors. Also, the recipient(s) will be invited to attend the Foundation's annual banquet dinner and asked to serve as a volunteer at the Foundation's annual golf outing.
The Scholarship Committee will make the final selection of The Foreman Foundation Scholarship Fund in Memory of John Bruno, Jr. based on the information submitted by, and a personal interview with, three finalists. The Committee Chairman (Jim Render) will determine the three finalists based on the information submitted from all applicants.
It is the duty of the Scholarship Committee to make known to the senior students of Upper St. Clair High School the availability and the qualifications for The Foreman Foundation Scholarship Fund in Memory of John Bruno, Jr., and to provide information to each applicant on the appropriate manner in which to apply for The Foreman Foundation Scholarship Fund in Memory of John Bruno, Jr.
A. Students may apply to the Committee Chairman (Jim Render) with a completed application that includes a written recommendation by the director of the student's extra-curricular activity, co-sponsored by a faculty member, and teammate/classmate of the student.
B. Applications must be submitted with a written composition by the student of no more than 250 words that delineates their commitment as an active student and friend to heighten melanoma awareness in honor of John Bruno, Jr., to their community.
C. Recipients will be required to present certified materials to the Committee Chairman (Jim Render) at the end of each academic school year to verify that requirements set forth have been maintained. Upon verification, the Committee Chairman will request the Foundation to distribute the next installment of the Scholarship.
